Change of command at NFIU Romania

The NATO Force Integration Unit Romania welcomed its new commander, COL Ioan-Tiberiu COJOCARU, during a Change of Command ceremony at HQ NFIU ROU, in Bucharest.

COL Cristian IVĂNESCU relinquished the Command and Colours of the NATO Force Integration Unit Romania after serving more than one year as the commander of the NFIU team.

The ceremony was presided over by the MND-SE Commander,  MG Dorin TOMA.

,,Today is bitter-sweet as we bid farewell to Colonel Ivănescu and welcome Colonel Cojocaru to the NFIU Romania team. Over the past year, Colonel Ivănescu commanded NFIU Romania through its most challenging time. He brought a wealth of knowledge to his position and it greatly increased the effectiveness of this organization. […] Thank you for your professionalism and leadership during this time of Commander NFIU Romania. You will always be a part of our NATO team and we look forward to working with you in your new Host Nation capacity.”, highlighted MG TOMA during his speech.

,,I have never counted the days to this point and I enjoyed every single moment that we spent together. […] Nevertheless, I am thankful for your attitude towards the obstacles that we encountered during these challenging times!”, said COL IVĂNESCU. His next position will be at the Strategic Planning Directive within the Romanian MoD.

,,Today, Colonel Cojocaru assumes command of NFIU Romania as a result of an outstanding career in both Host Nation and NATO positions. […] Colonel Cojocaru is a proven leader and a subject matter expert in NATO and Host Nation operations. He is the right leader for the job, at the right time and place. I wish him the best of luck in this new assignment as even more challenges await this great organization.”, also said MG TOMA.

Prior being appointed as the Commander of NATO Force Integration Unit Romania, COL COJOCARU filled the position of Deputy Chief of Staff for Support in HQ MND-SE.
